The Cairo day trip from Hurghada is the longest and most impressive day in Egypt. Departure at 1am, six hours through the desert, and at sunrise - the pyramids. The distance from Hurghada to Cairo is approximately 500 km. The drive takes 5–6 hours depending on police escort. Departure at 1am - this is necessary to reach the pyramids before the main tourist groups arrive. Return to Hurghada around 10–11pm. Passport is mandatory for police checkpoints.

The three pyramids - Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure - are the only surviving wonder of the ancient world. The Great Pyramid of Khufu at 138 metres was built over approximately 20 years. Entry inside the pyramid costs an extra ~$32 (1,500 Egyptian pounds), payable at the ticket office on site. The Great Sphinx is a monolithic sculpture 73 metres long, carved from a single limestone outcrop around 2500 BC.
The Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square is one of the largest in the world. Over 120,000 exhibits. The centrepiece is the 11-kg solid-gold death mask of Tutankhamun. The mummies hall holds the remains of Ramesses II, Seti I, and Thutmose III.
The Nile motorboat trip is optional - $10 per person, paid to the guide on the bus. In the Super Cairo programme it is included free. Tourists who do not take the boat trip wait on the bus.
