A hammam (Turkish bath) is not just a bath - it is a complete ritual of body cleansing and relaxation. The hammam tradition dates back to the Roman Empire and was developed in the Ottoman Empire. Today hammams operate throughout the Middle East and North Africa, preserving traditional techniques.

How a hammam visit works

You are welcomed with tea - mint or sage. Then you move to the hot steam room (temperature 40–50°C, humidity 100%) and lie on a warm marble slab for 15–20 minutes. The steam opens the pores and relaxes the muscles. Then the bath master performs a foam massage: a special mitt creates abundant foam from natural soap, the massage relieves tension and improves circulation. The body scrub removes dead skin cells - afterwards the skin feels incredibly soft. The session ends in the rest area with tea.
